This giveaway has ended. I'm off picking the winner now. Good luck to all who entered!
As I was checking my posts earlier today I saw that yesterday's post was my 200th. I simply cannot believe that. I think that definitely deserves a giveaway and details on that will be listed at the end of this post. Woo-hoo!
I cut out all the pieces for the quilt last night and this morning. Since the pattern gave directions by colors and mine weren't the same, I had to call green, pink and sometimes blue or red. I think I came up with a good system though.
Here is the first block. I did this one all the way to finish just so I could make sure I liked it. And I do! So, I have one done and nineteen more to go. This one took the longest since I can do them in steps now that I understand where I'm going with it. I really can't wait to see how it all goes together. As you can see from the fabric, it will be contemporary and a bit funky too.

Now for the giveaway! I am having a hard time giving this up but it is a fat quarter bundle of Minick and Simpson's Christmas Past. There are 18 FQ's, if I counted right. A few were removed for another giveaway last year. This is a contemporary Christmas collection with dots, candy canes and non-traditional colors but really quite a nice collection. This is perfect for someone who is looking to make a Christmas quilt and, unlike me, can work ahead instead of 12 days before you need it. (Yes, it is only 12 days until the wedding that the quilt is being made for...)
I've never tried this before but you will have three chances to win.
1 - Leave a comment. I would love to know if you plan and work ahead or like me, work best under pressure.
2 - Become a follower, or tell me if you are already are. I noticed that I am at 180 followers. It would be so fun if I got to 200 followers for this giveaway.
3 - This is the new one for me. You will get one more chance if you blog about this giveaway and then come back and tell me you did. I know how much all of us love to know that someone is reading what we wrote. Feedback is ever so important! I love reading all your comments.
This giveaway will end on Sunday, July 10th at 9 pm Eastern time. Make sure your email is connected to your name or leave your email for me. I really want to the first name drawn to get their prize.
Good luck to all and have a great week!
Nancy
Oh, I am the dreaded #1 (at least I was when I started typing LOL). I always mean well and plan in advance, but always end up working under pressure. Just drives my husband crazy. Great giveaway. I have never made a Christmas quilt, so this would be perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower.
ReplyDeleteYour first block looks great...hard to beat green in my book! Congratulations on your 200th post too!
ReplyDeleteI so work under pressure! One wedding shower, I did a flannel one where you cut the edges, then wash and put in dryer so it all puffs out... i had to bring the wet quilt to the hostess's house to get her to put it in the dryer as I literally ran out of time...
ReplyDeleteWe pulled it out just before gift opening=)
I so love following=)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower.. through google reader. Just went and added me to your google friend so I will count... that makes 181!
ReplyDeleteI work best under pressure... give me a deadline and I will be working three seconds to the last minute...
ReplyDeleteYour block looks awesome - and such a generous giveaway! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower and luv the Minick and Simpson Christmas Past collection. I have a few FQ already and could make an awesome quilt with your giveaway. Thanks for the chance....(o:
ReplyDeleteI definitely work better under pressure - I'll sit my butt down and get things done. Otherwise, sometimes I just won't be in the "sewing mood" and I"ll procrastinate!
ReplyDeleteIt seems I'm always working under pressure.... working on a project at the very last minute. I wish it wasn't so....sometimes I surprise myself and finish with time to spare.....thanks for the chance to win such a generous giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 200 posts! I don't usually work best under pressure, but that's what it seems to boil down to time and time again. Thanks for the generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower :-)
ReplyDeleteI have actually decided to start on fall and then go straight to christmas since I am always behind. Tomorrow I should finish my flag quilt for the 4th, lol.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I am also a follower!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
hello!!!!! I would have to say I'm NOT a planner as I try not to do obligation quilting...unless it's for a small exchange. I only make what I feel like making and I think the christmas bug may hit me soon!!!!! Thank you for the chance, the fabrics look lovely.
ReplyDeleteOH. wow. I have become a follower! I get it done at the last second! I do think that sometimes good enough IS. I am constantly changing the colors from what a pattern calls for! I would seriously link up to your blog...but I have not been sucked into the act of blogging (yet!) Have a great day! Thanks for letting me read a bit!
ReplyDeleteMe again, I've been a follower for a while, I love visiting, thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Please count me in! Often happens to me to finish work in the last minute.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteI put your giveaway on my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteI love the hydrangea in your header! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd love Christmas fabric~ I try to work ahead so I'm not too stressed. It works for a lot of things. lol Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
I'm a happy follower too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always INTEND to plan way ahead but somehow always end up panicked at the end!
ReplyDeleteI rarely give myself a deadline, but I'm probably a plan ahead kind of gal.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteI try to plan and work ahead but it rarely happens that way. I keep trying though.
ReplyDeleteI hate it if I have a time limit, that's when I start to make mistakes, I need to want to do something rather than have to do something. Linda
ReplyDeleteI am one of your followers, thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a planner but sometimes get caught out and run out of time especially at Christmas! LOL. Thanks for the giveaway. C
ReplyDeleteI love the block, too. Glad you got your system down and hope the remaining 19 blocks sew up quickly! I, like you, am a procrastinator! I wish it weren't so. A pressing deadline must loom before I am sufficiently motivated to "get her done!"
ReplyDeleteIn order to get my house clean, I used to pretend that my mother-in-law was coming for a visit. She used to live over 300 miles away. Now that she's lived in the same town for almost seven years, I am almost never motivated to give my house more than a "lick and a promise," as my mom used to say.
I love the fabrics you are giving away! Fingers crossed!

ReplyDeleteI really try to work ahead. I make waaaaay too many mistakes if I work under pressure. Congrats on your 200th post!!
ReplyDeleteI am a regular follower of your wonderful blog :) Thanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! I am definitely an "under the gun" kind of worker. And not just in quilting. I tend to approach most things in life that way! The Christmas fabric is just beautiful! Congrats on 200 posts! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, for what it's worth, I started following you a couple of weeks ago! :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I like to get things done early, but get the most done with a deadline looming closely. :) Thanks for a lovely giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI do plan ahead but seem to always end up working under pressure.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to say I plan ahead but I'm a 'seat of your pants' quilter!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI am a planner. I always plan ahead and know what I'm going to do BUT I don't always do it. I tend to leave fulfilling my plans until the last minute, hahaha. Thanks for the opportunity to win your generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower of your blog so couldn't add another number to your list of followers today. Thanks for the opportunity to win your generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteGratz on 200 posts! I am already a follower. :)
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few occasions where I finish a project in advance, but for the most part I find I work best under pressure.
ReplyDeleteI really have to plan ahead. Just too hard form me to jump right in, not a sink or swim kinda gal. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy 200th post! I try to start early. Then I lose focus somewhere on the way. I never promise a quilt though, becuase I know myself!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower already! I'm looking forward to seeing the new quilt. I like the green pinwheel in the middle. It will be interesting to see it all together :)
ReplyDeleteI am a life long procrastinator. So I always work better under pressure.

I am mostly a work ahead type girl -- I already have a Christmas gift or two made. My family often asks me to make things on short notice though so I do that too. As in, "I need a couple teacher gifts for the last day of school which is in a week. Can you make them?" There is always mailing involved in these projects so sometimes I have to work really fast. My husband says I'm crazy, but I like a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI signed up to follow your blog. Can't wait to see all you have to say!
ReplyDeleteI'm a leave it to the last minute gal! I must work better under pressure. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteI will start a project with plenty of time but then I only finish 1/2 or 3/4 of it. I always think that I will have plenty of time to get it finished. Something always gets in the way though and I am scrambling at the last second to get it finished.
ReplyDeleteI NORMALLY plan ahead on everything that I do, because I hate to get behind and have to hurry to finish something, but lately I've been down in the dumps about most everything and I'm behind. When I get to that point, then I really don't worry about deadlines any longer, it gets done when it gets done.
ReplyDeleteI'm now a follower!

ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I met someone over the weekend who went to HS with you.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower, love your green block!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I do a little of both......I like a little pressure sometimes and I always have something planned. Wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI certainly try to plan ahead but right now I am a bit overwhelmed and behind. Most folks dislike winter - I love being snowed in and getting to sew!
ReplyDeleteI am a current follower, thanks!
ReplyDeleteBlogged about your giveaway here: http://ilovescruffydog.blogspot.com/p/giveaway-galore.html, thanks!

Happy to have found your blog! I'm a retired school librarian. I've just finished my first year of retirement and absolutely LOVE IT! I don't work well under pressure. If I don't make a deadline for a gift, I find something else for the gift. I'm currently putting binding on a Christmas quilt. It didn't get finished last Christmas so it will be a gift for my SIL this year instead of last year:) Thanks for sharing and celebrating with us! I love fabric designed by Minnick and Simpson:)
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog. Thank you for following my blog, too!
ReplyDeleteI would said I work best under pressure especially close to the deadline... :D ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance...I am new follower to your blog :D
ReplyDeleteSometimes I work well under pressure...I try to get it done in advance though. =) Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI already follow your blog. =) Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI tend to procrastinate, and then I work better under pressure :)
ReplyDeleteI work best under pressure. i was just sitting here thing I needed to put away all my spring fabric and start on fall, Halloween and Christmas fabrics(na not today). Love the hydrangeas,on my blog I took a picture of my moms, you should see all the colors.

I always try to start to get ahead of the game, but end up floundering somewhere in the middle of the project, so end up rushing to get finished by the deadline. So I guess I'm one of those that fall in both categories.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your quilt. I like the colors you picked out also.
I'm a new follower - and you're up to 199 followers! Yippee!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 200th post. I'm a planner and like to get things done early. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYea! I'm your 200th follower and 100th poster. Surely that will be good luck! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blogging success. I just know you'll get that quilt finished. I definitely work better under pressure. Like most quilters I have too many things going at once. Love the Christmas Past bundle. Thanks for the chance to win it.
ReplyDeleteI like to plan ahead but I've never actually had a deadline for any of my projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower- thanks for the give-away Nancy!!
ReplyDeleteI always have a plan to start. Whether I stick to the plan tends to vary :)
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower :) Glad to have found you!!
ReplyDeleteI am a total last minuter! I'll spend lots of time choosing patterns and fabrics and somehow in my little brain it seems mostly done! Done until a week before I need the quilt and I have to scramble like a crazy woman!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower! I love your hydrangea photo!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to work best under pressure! I have 2 birthday quilts to finish (okay...start and finish) by the end of July!!! I would love to win some Christmas fabric and actually get a jump start on Christmas gifts this year :-) Thanks for the give away!!
ReplyDeleteI work under pressure much better. I don't it just seems to bring out the best.
ReplyDeleteI would say I tend to plan ahead, start the work.... but then finish late! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhen I try to draw a pattern ahead of time I always end up changing it. I do best when I just pull out fabric and start playing with it. And I'm usually at my deadlines or behind...sigh...
ReplyDeletesince i'm still new at sewing i need to plan ahead...
ReplyDelete:)

ReplyDeleteI happen to be a planner so yes I start think of things way ahead and try to finish ahead of time. LOL, I 'm a mess if I'm doing something at the last min.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win :)
I tend to start a bunch of projects at once, and then every once in awhile I start finishing them.

Beautiful fabrics , sure would love to win them ,thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower ,again thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI plan ahead on my quilting so that I actually make time. Once I sit in front of my machine, I will sometimes go with the quilting flow.
ReplyDeleteI plan ahead if I have enough "warning" that I will want to give someone a quilt. But a gift quilt doesn't always get done on time :). Lately I've been using up older fabrics, so I work at my own pace with no deadline.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric giveaway is lovely and generous. I've never made myself a Christmas quilt--but if I were to win I'd make one for my daughter. Thanks!
I'm a new follower and I'm glad I discovered your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win the lovely fabrics.
I've finally learned that I can only work under a deadline, so I just schedule that way - no need to make myself nuts earlier lol. Thanks for the great chance to win fabrics to work on in November ; ). VermontPines@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI work best with a deadline, under pressure, and accountability!
ReplyDeleteI love to plan ahead, but I think I work better under pressure!!!

Thanks!
I do a bit of both. Right now I'm working on a quilt for a 50th anniversary that just passed, as well as a quilt for a wedding in August. But last year I planned to make 8 Christmas quilts, and kept track of my progress with a spreadsheet. I loved coloring in the boxes as I completed each step and found it pretty motivating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.

I am a new follower and i love to win.
ReplyDeleteI am certainly a last minuter in everything
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm a bit of both. I love planning and getting started... and getting the first parts done, but often get sidetracked and then it takes a deadline imposed from the outside to get the project done..at the last possible moment.
ReplyDeleteI try to work ahead, but it ends up where I work under pressure. I whipped up a Wine Bag for my brother's girlfriend in about 15 min the other day as she was already here. I forgot to make her something!
ReplyDeleteI plan and then my time always get reallocated and then I'm on a deadline again!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been turned into a major fan/follower!!!
ReplyDeleteI always have the best of intentions, but I definitely work best )and most often) under pressure and deadlines. I love that line and I'm hoping to win. I would start right away, and probably finish up the final 80 percent the 5 days before Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am a planner. I love to sit down with my computer and plan every aspect of the quilt, calculate exactly how much fabric I will need, and go from there. I'm not very good at sewing by the seat of my pants! Other things, yes. But not sewing. That needs a plan. :)
ReplyDeleteNever a planner. I'm a last minute kinda girl!
ReplyDeleteI am officially follower #215 woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteI like to make plans and not leave things until the last minute-that way I am not stressed out.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Peggy

After decades of plan my work and work my plan, I enjoy not having deadlines. I do not plan everything ahead of time when making a quilt as like to audition fabrics for borders, binding, etc. Christmas! I'll start sewing before this Christmas and maybe it will get done, maybe not. ...but it will be done for the Christmas after that....
ReplyDeleteI already follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 200 posts!
ReplyDeleteI love to plan but always procrastinate and end up working under pressure :D
Thanks for the lovely giveaway!
I follow!
ReplyDeleteNancy, nice giveaway! Congrats on your 200th post! I am a follower, and I added your giveaway to my Other Quilty Giveaways list on The Curious Quilter. - Mary

ReplyDeleteI am already a follower! Thanks for the chance - this bundle would be awesome to win as I have very little Christmas fabric in my stash ;-)
ReplyDeleteUnder most circumstances I prefer to be prepared but working under pressure has it's "highs" and a great feeling of personal satisfaction afterwards especially when the end result is successful!!
ReplyDeletei've tried to make schedule, but it always ended under pressure..^^and love get earlier christmas giveaway...^^
ReplyDeletei'm follower now..^^
ReplyDeleteOh sometimes I work well under pressure, and sometimes I"m good about working ahead and on time. Guess that just means I'm not stable? :) LOVE that xmas fabric! Who wouldn't want to win that!
ReplyDeleteSometimes (rarely) I plan, make drawings, paint them...But the most exciting and great work is done under pressure.Maybe it's the adrenaline speaking.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower of your lovely blog.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway. I'm catching up on blog reading this morning and happy to see I got here in time. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI work best under pressure. It's not uncommon for me to be putting the last stitches in the binding while sitting in the car before the shower or wedding. Love gift bags because of this! :)
Congrats on 200 posts too!
I just became a new follower! Love the hydrangeas on your header. Mine aren't blooming too well this year. Think we had too much rain. :(
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I added your giveaway to a button on my blog's sidebar -- top right! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway- I tend to work to the wire- sometimes I start the plan a long time ahead but other times I run it to the wire or even have to finish after the event. I am a full day kindergarten teacher in my professional life so sometimes the school year is just too busy to finish everything that I try to accomplish.
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a nice prize. I do hope you will come and visit my blog sometime too.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
I also have become a follower and added you to my blog list so I make sure to return to your blog again.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Anna
Lovely giveaway, I try and plan ahead, but I often end up working with a deadline, and there are of course, the times when life intruded and I missed the deadline. Thanks for the opportunity to add to my stash.
ReplyDeleteI have also become a follower.
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway looks brilliant,i try to be on time but sometimes i miss :))
ReplyDeleteI plan ... and plan ... and plan ... and still end up working at the last minute. Maybe I should try a little less planning a little more doing! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
