Snow Day!

I've been waiting all winter for a snow day. The only one we had was back in October. So, today I declared a snow day for myself. I did not have to go anywhere and it was great to have a day without a schedule. I did take a walk to the grocery store and this is what I saw. Now that we are having our early spring, the flowering trees are gorgeous. I have to keep reminding myself that it is March!

If we wait a few days the petals on all these trees will be raining down like snow. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that there won't be a frost which could destroy all this. I did manage to get a few things accomplished today but haven't yet gotten to the sewing yet. Since I was able to decorate for spring, I can hopefully move that to the top of the list for tomorrow. (You know, I am at the backing and quilting stage, hardest one to accomplish!)

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

All my eggs in one basket...

I think they always tell people not to put all your eggs in one basket but when I was at the Flower Show last Thursday, I put all twelve of my chances in one raffle basket and I WON! I got a call the other day that I was the happy winner of the Tea for Two basket.

I really didn't even look at the other baskets when I saw this one since one of my other hobbies is going to tea. There was a gift certificate in the basket for one of my favorite tearooms. And look how they were packaged. So very clever.

Two great little "teabags".

The basket was filled with so many other good things. I am one very lucky girl. Special thanks go to my friend who told me about the flower show and then delivered the basket to me even though it was the one she really wanted to win!

Tea for two, for sure.

Love this embroidered tea towel

Coffee drinkers weren't forgotten in this or sweet tooths!

Can't forget the teapot or cups.

four lace placemats

And of course, the tea and shortbread.

Anyone for some tea?

Happy St. Patrick's Day

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I'm going to show you some green. I went to a little flower show yesterday which is held at a Life Care Community near me. It is always so lovely and full of surprises. The residents do all the work and it is amazing what they create. I hope you all have a wonderful GREEN day. This is my favorite holiday!!

The theme for the show was The Garden of Eating. Watch for all the "food" flowers and decor in the pictures.

These were the small arrangements made at other facilities.

Note the celery stalk trees.

Pretties everywhere.

These were seed stepping stones. So unique.

More little food trays.

The backdrops were great too.

Yum

Anyone want a spot of tea.

More stepping stones

Love the pancakes.

Peanut butter and jelly house.

Recycled plastic bottles. So colorful

More recycled bottles.

There goes the picnic.
The next two things were my favorites but alas not for sale. I had to spend my money at the craft show that was also being held there.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!!!!

Paper goodies

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was one of the winners in a French General giveaway. I know most of you are familiar with the wonderful French General fabric and now there are more goodies coming out for the scrappers and cardmakers in our midst. Now the picture above is paper but I bet you thought it was fabric. This is how the goodies were packaged. I want to save this too.

This was some scrap paper, it is really more red than it shows in this picture.

Oh, the possibilities of using all this wonderful paper stash.

This little pack itself is pretty as it is. I really have to think about it for awhile before I make anything from all of this.

These wonderful supplies will be available at your local Michaels in April. Be sure to watch for them.  Kaari Meng asked that the winners make something wonderful and then share it with her. I appreciate her generosity and can't wait to start the perfect project!

Be sure to check her blog, The Warp and the Weft and the French General online store. So many wonderful ideas and supplies. And if nothing else, so many pretty things to look at.

Thanks so much, Kaari!

Sharing some finishes

I don't want to mislead anyone. Sadly, I'm not sharing my own finishes. The Good Enough Quilters met on Tuesday night and there were some there who had finishes to share. One of these days...

These are the newest bug jar blocks that were made for our quilt. The one on the left has the cutest bug names in different colors. We will be donating this quilt when it is finished and several decided they wanted to win it in a raffle. It will be very cute.

Lynn was sharing the goodies from her sisters' weekend. Her sisters come from California each year for a long weekend and after a trip to some favorite quilt shops, they spend the time sewing. They also each bring gifts for everyone. The tee shirt above was one of the gifts. It says it all!!!

Another gift was a lovely quilted oven mitt.

Everyone made themselves a very cute purse.

The quilt pictured above is the one Lynn worked on that weekend. This is for her daughter who picked out the fabric. I just love the colors Vanessa chose. We all gave our opinions on how it should be quilted. A very hard decision.

This great coffee cup quilt was Peggy's almost finish. She and a friend made this for a favorite barista who is no longer working at their local Starbuck's. Isn't this quilt wonderful! Such great colors.

Another finish for Peggy. Made for a friend. Each section has special meaning. Dru was surprised to see fabric that she has had in her stash for a long time.

And the last piece is a donation that Peggy is making to the raffle basket I have to put together for a July quilt show. Thanks again, Peggy.

I still hold out hope to have a finish to show sometime soon.  Or at least a work in progress. I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show today. No sewing was done but great flower pictures to share at some point.

Have a great weekend everyone!

This just isn't good...

When I met with a few of my quilting friends on Saturday they were talking again about a website they love. Have you heard about Missouri Star Quilt Company. Fair warning, if you find it hard to resist a fabric deal, read no further!

If you are still reading, I can tell you that I got this jelly roll for only $17.77! Each day, the website has a daily deal and they are good! This was the daily deal just the other day and since it had roosters, I couldn't resist. (If you're reading this, Catherine and Kathleen, I don't know if I should thank you or not.) It is a full jelly roll and at that price, you can't beat it.

These were two charm packs I just got from them too. Check the next picture to see one piece of the fabric on the right. It is called Make Do and Mend and it just too cute for words.

Here is a bigger piece of the top fabric. So many possibilities for this. I didn't want to take the charm pack apart but had to show you this one piece that is inside.

Now, if only I could find the time to make this into a sewing room quilt. Does anyone know a good site to buy some of that!???
