A show and some favorites

It is a rainy Wednesday and I really should be quilting but instead I'm wasting my time on the computer. My day at home is to be spent straightening my guest room for company this weekend. Very excited for the company but not excited to clean and sort. I know once I get started I'll be happier to do it. What do they say, a journey of a thousand miles...

Before I share my pictures, I have been asked to pass on the following quilt show info. And who doesn't  like to hear about a quilt show!

Beaver Valley Piecemakers 19th Annual Quilt Show
Location - Holy Family Parish
1851 3rd Ave.
New Brighton, Pa 15066
Dates and Time - Oct. 11th and 12th 10-5
Oct. 13th 11-4
Approximately 100 quilts judged by a National Quilt Association Judge. The theme this year is 2 color quilts. Also, quilt and sewing machine raffles, vendors, café with homemade food, and a boutique. Admission is $7 and children 12 and under free.

Now for my favorites. I have not been sewing but looked around my house and noticed these things on my table that I wanted to share.

If you are a fan of Susan Branch, as I am, you will love her newest book, A Fine Romance. Susan writes about her trip to England and since it is in her lovely script, it feels like you are reading her diary. Pictures and stories are to enjoy and savor. A big must read. And just wouldn't be the same on an e-reader. This is a book.

Don't you love this little teapot? Makes me think of Alice in Wonderland. They called it a dancing teapot. I just had to have it!

And of course, the sunflowers. Always make me smile and provide sunshine on this cloudy day.

Have a good day, wherever you may find yourself and whatever you may be doing. This day won't come again.

Changing

Nothing about sewing today, although I did cut the backing for the quilt and hope to get back to it this coming week. My deadline was moved so the pressure is off for a bit. Now hoping to finish by September.

Just changed my heading photo. Hated to take away the hydrangeas but just love this sunflower photo. I took it at a friend's house this weekend. I loved the brightness of the flower against the wooden fence. Do love sunflowers because they make me smile! Hope they can do the same for you.

Happy Sewing!

Almost...

As in almost a quilt. I started this quilt about 4 months ago and finally there is pressure to get it finished and as I've said before, I do my best work under pressure! I'm making this baby quilt for the granddaughter of a friend. I will finally get to meet the baby tomorrow. And figure I will at least have a top to give. It will be one of those twice given quilts, for sure.

I am happy with the look and even happier that I found border fabric in my stash. Which of course meant it was okay to buy just a little more great fabric. Oh, my.

I have one more deadline looming. I was lucky to be chosen as an advance reader for Lisa Wingate's newest book, The Prayer Box. I have to finish and send it on to the next reader by tomorrow. I will finish for sure. This was a wonderful story and certainly hasn't disappointed. Lisa's first book, Tending Roses, is my all time favorite book ever!

Hope to have a quilt finish to post very soon!

Have a happy day and weekend.
