End of August?

I'm looking at the calendar and can't believe that there is only one week left in August. Even though I'm retired, I still hate to see the summer end. I also can't believe that my last post was on August 7th. Where does the time go?

While I haven't done any sewing, maybe this weekend?, I have still been trolling the internet and added to my stash. You never know when that big snow will come and heaven knows, I don't want to be left with no fabric. I have found fabric here and there and sometimes just can't resist.

I loved this fat quarter pack. Great colors and of course, roosters!

So glad I found more of Sweetwater's fabric. It can go with my other fabric with words. Hmmm, what will  I finally do with all of that.

No, I don't live in Texas but have friends there. Never know when this will come in handy.

And of course, I couldn't ignore the collection of "sewing" fabric. This was just too good to pass up.

Now, I'm going on record here, probably for the 100th time, my next post will include some sewing. I have to organize the stash but think there will be time this weekend for actually using the stash! Be sure to check back.

And have a good sewing day.

I have a finish!

No, I can't say I have been going crazy sewing but I can say that I got my wonderful baby quilt back from the quilter. And it went out in the mail... And it got there safely! Phew and sigh of relief. And now I can share it with you.

Not patient enough to wait for outside light. And it had been washed so I didn't want to put it on the ground.

My quilter does the binding too. Don't you just love that?

She always does such a great job with the quilting.

Loved the backing fabric too. Can't even tell that I had to piece and make the backing larger, can you?

One more close-up. This was a kit from Fat Quarter Shop. I usually like to pick my own fabric but this was just so perfect, I couldn't resist. Just a sweet, little old-fashioned quilt.

Hate to say I'm now back to the quilt that I need to finish myself. Those darn quilting fairies...

The Good Old Days?

A few days ago I posted pictures from a vintage quilt exhibit at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown. It was a wonderful, bright exhibit of unique quilts. Needled Mom commented on that post and then in a later email also made a comment about the tools they had to use. Well, here they are. Another part of the exhibit included some of the tools they did use. And there was not a rotary cutter among them!

A sewing machine in the middle?

I bet they weren't lightweight scissors.

And these look like some form of medeival torture. Boy, have we come a long way. All the more reason to appreciate those old quilts.

This is where I should post a picture of my rotary cutter but I'll simply let you go and hug yours - but only if it's in the LOCKED postion! Have a fabulous day.
