Can you spot the difference?

The Good Enough Quilters got together briefly on Wednesday night to share the kimono quilt blocks each of us made. One is missing and will be added soon. After they were laid out, we discovered that one of the blocks was different than the others. Can you spot the difference?

This meeting was brief since I had another group coming from my book club but we still took the time for Cindy to share her house bag. Don't you love those colors?

I'll be anxious to see if anyone can spot any difference. Watch the next post to see the answer. 

So pleased with myself!

The Good Enough Quilters are meeting on Wednesday. Everyone is bringing their finished kimono blocks so we can assemble the quilt and then I'll sew it together. I'm happy to say that I finished my block yesterday - 4 days before it had to be done!  That never happens. Can't wait to see how they all look together with black sashing in between. Check back in a few days for another peak at our quilt.

Another sneak peek!

Dru and Deb finished their blocks this weekend and shared a picture with me. I know others have finished too but as for me, the fabric is still sitting on my cutting table. You would think that with all the cold and snow we've been having, I would at  least have that finished. But, no, other things keep getting in the way.


I may not be sewing but I really have made a lot of quilts in my mind. I get the weekly newsletter from Hawthorne Threads and just made 3 quilts from the fabrics they were spotlighting. If you have never looked at their site, I recommend it. And they have a giveaway of amazing fabric each week and all they want is your email address. So easy!

In the meantime, Christmas is still alive in my house. I just haven't had time to take things down but do plan to do that this weekend.

I sometimes leave the snowmen up longer but not this year. It is time for them to go away too. One friend accuses me of causing the snow with my snowmen and I'm not taking that rap this year. Time for them to go!

Smell the gingerbread, anyone?

Really hate to see the tree taken down, love the lights, but it is time.

Goodbye to Santa and his helpers too.

A sneak peek!

Here it is. Cindy completed her block right away and shared it with all of us. There will be nine blocks, all of different Asian fabric and they will be separated by black sashing. Should be so colorful! Can't wait to see it all together. 

A quilt begun and several more finished...

The Good Enough Quilters met tonight and main item on the agenda was planning a quilt to be donated to Pearl S. Buck International for their spring fundraiser. We are using a kimono quilt pattern and each of us will make one block using different Asian fabric. Happy to say that this fabric is helping to bust my stash! Not bad. 

We chose the fabric we want to use since each kimono will be a different fabric. Very colorful. I think all were happy with their choice. Can't wait to see the finished blocks next month. Good that I have a deadline!

From the quilt begun to several finished ones. Debbie wowed us again with her Christmas wallhanging. Love the colors and design of this. Don't those ornaments just pop off the quilt.

Had to share just one closeup of this. So creative.

Dru was really on a roll. This was her first share. She had this little quilt hanging on her front door. Great colors and for sure so fall-like.

The back looks good too.

Next she shared a bright and colorful baby quilt. Now those are colors that really pop. The yellow fabric is really cute too.

The backing is a great fabric. They may look like books from this angle but are really houses in a row.

Dru then shared two old UFO's that have become two finishes. These were blocks of the month that several of us did a few years ago. A good finish.

And her final finish is another set of blocks of the month. I thought I took a picture of the backing but didn't. Dru only used fleece and no batting on this one. A nice comfy cover for cold, winter nights.

You may recognize these from our last meeting. Lynn is making more of the sewing box like the one I won at our December meeting. (Yes, Laura and Fran, I can hear you saying that I stole it!) We each got the pattern and now can make our own. Debbie is already planning to give hers away.

We meet again...

Last Friday we had our annual Christmas dinner meeting at Cindy's house. We each bring food and just sit back and enjoy. This little guy belongs to Cindy. It was her mother's and the body was made from an old quilt. Don't you just love it.

We didn't have too many shares this month. That always makes me feel better since I seldom have anything to share. This was the quilt that Laura made for her daughter and son-in-law. All paper pieced and Laura doesn't even like doing that! And it is huge!!! Luckily, Laura is sending it out to be quilted.

Just wanted to give you a closer look. She promises to show us when it is finished.

Tonight was also our gift exchange or better to call it gift grab. I'm sure many of you have participated in one of these. There were some steals and hopefully, friendships will mend in a month or two! This was one of the gifts that Fran got after, hate to admit it, I took her gift.  She also got a charm pack.

Now, when you see this you will understand why I took Fran's gift. This was a sewing basket that Lynn made. I just couldn't pass it up when the opportunity presented itself. So sorry, Fran.

We had a week of snow days off and on. This picture is from one of those days but now as our weather warms up, we are saying goodbye to a white Christmas but thinking people won't mind seeing it go. It was quite a mess.

Two months gone!

I don't know how time got away from me so badly that it has been two months since I posted anything! It is a good thing we had our Good Enough Quilters meeting so I had to post. Perhaps in the new year, I will do better and fill you in on what I have been up to.
Anyway, this bright and cheery quilt was a finish by Cindy. It is a baby quilt, so simple yet looking so good. (Hint, Cindy, when you read this, can you send us the pattern, please?)

The fabric on the back of her quilt is so cute too. Great colors and darling animals.

This quilt posted a challenge for taking a picture. You might remember seeing it when we worked on it. Cindy brought it back to show us the quilting. We have donated this one for a special sale and Cindy will complete the binding for us.

Hope you can appreciate the way it was quilted. It was hand quilted and we loved the way it actually produced angles which showed better on the backing of the quilt.

Debbie shared the special quilt she made for her granddaughter. It is so adorable. Her granddaughter picked out the pattern herself. Aren't they too cute?

Dru shared a quick Halloween table mat that she made. Forgot to take a picture of the back. She used a fall print so this would be multi-purpose.

 Deb, I bet you recognize this one. Dru and her sister worked on Christmas quilts the last time Deb visited and this is Dru's. Love the presents on this one. And good colors too.

As Dru told us, she broke down and had this one machine quilted. Ruth is one of the area machine quilters and she never ceases to amaze us with her creativity. Each area of the quilt is a different stitch pattern. What a wonderful artist.

I am hoping to be back soon with more posts. So much to share, so little time...
