I love Etsy - Am I repeating myself?

I love the Etsy website and love to share it with other people. Thanks to Etsy I got this lovely felted pin in the mail yesterday and it came all the way from France. Now, I can't go to France myself right now but can still support the French artisans on Etsy. You can see more of these very unique pins at On Niche

Do you have a favorite Etsy site?

The best kind of comment!

I got this comment on my blog yesterday and I am delighted.

HI Nancy,

I don't know if you saw or not, but you were one of my giveaway winners of the lawn fabric from Connecting Threads. Please send me your address  so I can hook you up with your fabric! :)

Thanks so much,

Amanda Jean

Be sure to check her lovely blog at http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/

It has been a very busy week and I haven't been able to read the blogs I love but Amanda Jean was nice enough to send me a heads up. The fabric she is sending is lovely and I can't wait to see it. Go to this post to see what Amanda Jean created with the same fabric. Lovely.

The work of others

I couldn't be at our quilt group meeting tonight but through the wonders of the Internet and Fran's pictures, I feel like I was. The picture at the top is our completed top for the bug jar quilt. Doesn't it look so cute. Now it is off to the quilters and then to the Nature Center for a fundraiser. I did contribute to this so part of it is my work, really. My block is on the bottom left, I think.

This is the front and back of a baby quilt that Cindy is making for someone. Aren't they such bright, happy colors. I love the pattern too. Hmmmm.

It seems that Cindy was busy and shared another baby boy quilt she made. The primary colors look great in this one. Some little boy will be happy to get it.

Baby quilts seemed to be the order of the night. This is  Debbie's sailboat baby quilt for her grandchild on the way. If I remember correctly, she started this before there was a grandchild on the way. I think she is just a bit psychic. Or a little, if you make it, one will come...

Last but not least is Laura's start of her appliqued flower vase pillow for her daughter. Laura is our applique quilter. We all have our own style of quilting. At this point we could almost pick out fabric for each other, too.

Soon, soon, soon, I hope to post something I made! I can dream, can't I?

I am a quilter - really!!!

No, the picture above is not my latest quilt. This was taken in the cathedral in Prague but I'm sure there is inspiration for a quilt there. Can you just picture it?

It has occurred to me that I haven't really completed anything since last October! Yikes. And that was finished since I was on a deadline. You know, working under pressure and all. I did finish one small block for our quilt group's quilt but that is all. I simply can't believe it.

Part of the problem is that the next thing I am working on is completing a quilt. I have the backing, batting and top. Now if only the quilting fairies would come and take it away.

In the meantime, I do keep adding to the stash of patterns and fabric. I certainly won't be lacking for something to make.

This came from a new quilt shop. The color is not showing very well but I loved the different pieces on each section. Don't they look like buttons to you?

A few basics...

 a few patterns...

And the last is for a skirt. This is a really pretty turquoise and periwinkle.

Someone once said that you are quilter when you have at least 3 UFO's. Well, that sure does make me a quilter! No question about it.

April Fools and birthdays, perfect together!

I was away this weekend to celebrate my great-niece's 10th birthday. Her birthday isn't until April 16th but because of a school holiday that week the party was early and what better day than April Fool's Day! 21 fourth grade girls came to a pool party at the Y and it was a fun time for all. The cake was designed by the birthday girl. Notice the one swimmer in the pool.

The tables were all set up for the girls and ready for them after the swim. My niece had come up with some great little "tricks" to greet them.

Here is the first course. Sushi with a twist. It was made with pound cake, white icing and coconut.  The "seaweed" is  fruit roll-up! Looks real, doesn't it?
Even better, the juice was really Jell-o. The expression on some of their faces as they tried to drink it  was priceless!

They got their treat bags at the end of the party.  Filled with "joking" hazards!

I loved this idea. It was the on the familyfun.com website.  Wait until you see the back.

I leave you with sushi all dressed up and ready to go! Oh, yum.

Did you have any great tricks played on you yesterday?
